The fine print
Terms of Service
Last updated: October 21, 2026
1. Acceptance
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you and Zincan LLC, doing business as Book Bash, a limited liability company registered in North Carolina, United States (“Book Bash”, “Zincan”, “we”, “our”, “us”). By creating an account, using the website or mobile app, or following a Book Bash link sent to you, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What Book Bash is
Book Bash helps people run book clubs: a host keeps a roster, and Book Bash sends meetup reminders and new-book announcements, collects RSVPs and reading check-ins, runs suggestion rounds and ballots, and hosts the club’s discussion. Clubs are private and joined by invitation. We do not sell books; we link to Bookshop.org, Amazon and your local library.
3. Accounts and sign-in
Everyone in a club has an account. Sign-in is passwordless: we send a one-time magic link to your email or phone, and following it signs you in. Keep access to your email and phone secure — anyone who can open your magic link can sign in as you. Hosts may optionally set a password. You must be at least 13 years old.
If you add people to a club, you represent that you have their permission to invite them and to give us their name and a way to reach them for that purpose.
4. Messaging and SMS
By replying YES to a club’s first text, entering your mobile number and checking the consent box on bookba.sh or in the app, or texting YES to (424) 677-0808, you agree to receive book club texts from Book Bash by Zincan — meetup invitations and RSVP reminders, new-book announcements, reading check-ins, and voting reminders for the clubs you belong to. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.
Reply STOP to any message to stop all Book Bash texts. Reply HELP for help, or email hello@bookba.sh. Consent to texts is not a condition of joining a club or using the rest of the product; email and push reminders work without it.
5. Other people’s contact details
When a host adds someone to a club, the contact detail is used to deliver that person’s invitations and reminders. It is write-only in the product: other members never see it. See our Privacy Policy.
6. Your content
You own what you post — comments, quote cards, photos, nominations and pitches. You give us a license to store and display it to the members of the club you posted it in, as needed to run the service. Hosts can hide comments in their club. Short quotations from books should stay within fair use.
7. Book Bash Pro
Book Bash is free for clubs of up to 12 members, with every voting strategy included. Book Bash Pro is an optional subscription, bought by a host for one club, at $25 per year per club (US dollars). It raises the member limit to 50 and adds text-message nudges, presenter mode for ballot reveals, an open join link, the AI Discussion Guide, a season recap and a custom club theme.
Pro is purchased on the web and processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. It renews yearly until cancelled, and you can cancel any time from your club’s settings — Pro then lasts until the end of the year you paid for. Prices may change; a change applies from your next renewal and we will tell you before it does.
Refunds. If a charge went wrong — you were billed twice, or renewed by mistake — email hello@bookba.sh and we will put it right.
8. AI features
Some optional features use AI to suggest discussion questions, help find books, tidy a roster import or draft an announcement for a host to approve. AI output can be wrong; treat it as a suggestion. AI never counts votes or decides a ballot.
9. Book links
Book pages link to Bookshop.org, Amazon and library services. Some links carry affiliate codes, and we may earn a small commission on purchases at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Purchases are between you and the store.
10. Acceptable use
Do not use Book Bash to spam, harass, or message people who have not indicated they want to hear from your club. Do not attempt to extract other users’ data or get around Spoiler Guard for anyone but yourself. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.
11. Disclaimers
The service is provided as-is. We work hard to make every reminder arrive on time; we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the extent permitted by law, Zincan LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of Book Bash.
